Ron Fortier

Ron Fortier spent his early childhood in New York City where his grand-uncle Luiz took him to visit art galleries and museums nearly every day. He and his single mother, a Portuguese Fado singer of some note, later returned to Massachusetts where he was born. While in high school, he was a set designer and painter for the Opera Department at Southeastern Massachusetts University. Ron was accepted to the prestigious School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston but decided to attend the Southeastern Massachusetts University (today’s University of Massachusetts Dartmouth), where worked for Boris Goldovsky, the Voice of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. A voice he was very familiar with since his grand-uncle was a fan of the maestro’s broadcasts. After he received his BFA in Painting from Southeastern Massachusetts University, he was accepted to the MFA program at the University of Miami on a full-ride scholarship. He is now retired from a 40+ year career in advertising devoting his energy to painting and exhibiting on an international level. He lived, painted and exhibited on the Silver Coast of the Portuguese mainland. His current residence is in the historic seacoast town of Fairhaven on the South Coast of Massachusetts.
